Artistic Inspiration News
Learn to interact with audiences, up your artistic professional development and grantsmanship game, or, you know, just get out and go dogsledding: Something for everyone to shake off February.
Welcome to Artistic Inspiration News! Once a month, this substack brings artistic opportunities, activism, events, opportunities, ways to learn and develop as an artist, and artists and artworks to watch. All events in the Artistic Inspiration News are free unless noted. We are Twin Cities-centric, but we do report cool opportunities all over. Jackson Street Arts’ substack (including Artistic Inspiration News) remains free, at least for now. This month’s list is short and sweet; let us know in comments if we missed any of your favorite inspirations this month. Thanks for reading!
Dance/Movement:
(Twin Cities) OK, this one is expensive, but also once-in-a-lifetime. Minneapolis Community Education is offering a moonlit dogsled mushing adventure March 6th at 6:30. $125
Theater/Immersive
(Boston, Orlando, and Everywhere) Incantrix Theater is offering a 5-part interactive acting workshop beginning March 18th, with in person and Zoom options. Learn to act for immersive work. Pay-What-You-Can, suggested donation is a super affordable $20.
Books/Writing:
(Twin Cities) Andersen Library is hosting an exhibition of Sherlock Holmes stuff — manuscripts, rare memoribilia, etc. There’s an opening reception March 1st at 6:30 with appetizers and Sherlock experts. Sounds mysterious and fun. Registration required.
Visual Arts
(Everywhere) Creative Capital is hosting a workshop to prepare to apply for their $50,000 Creative Capital awards, March 1st at noon central. Register here. Even cooler, though: they have developed a Creative Capital Curriculum designed to enhance your professional development as an artist. It’s online, asynchronous, and free. Register here.
Spirituality/Magic:
(Everywhere) Be happy, it’s Adar! The At the Well Project is offering a free 21-day Embodied Joy course beginning February 27th to help experience the juiciness of Adar (or Pisces season, for you non-Jewish witches). Sign up here.
What’s inspiring you as winter drags on and spring (hopefully) emerges? Share what is making you juicy during the dry-skin season in the comments, and, as always, share and subscribe if you’d like to keep this work coming!
